Europe is a great destination for weekend breaks as there are many cities to choose from. And what makes it even better is that many of our destinations are very easy to reach from the UK. So whether you want to explore a city and find out everything about its culture and heritage, or simply want to soak up the sun, Europe will certainly have the perfect place.
As temperatures rise, many vacationers are preparing to board their flights in lovely, sunny locations. This seaside city in Croatia is a great option. Located on the east coast of the Adriatic Sea, Split is the largest city on the Croatian coastline and boasts many stunning beaches perfect for sun-seeking travelers around the world. The Times has named the city as one of Europe's best urban breaks this year.
It is probably because of the number of beaches across the seaside city that visitors must choose, each with their own identity and offering a different experience, but still shares a beauty that is common. That's before Split mentions before enjoying temperatures up to 20c in April.
Bacvice Beach is one of the most popular in the city. The gorgeous sand stretch can accommodate over 10,000 people. Located in the heart of the city, the beach is perfect for visitors of all ages. There are many activities, including a picnic game (similar to volleyball) that was invented on the beach.
Visitors with dogs don't need to miss it. Because Split is home to beaches that our little furry friends can enjoy. Znjan and Kasjuni Beach have showers, trash cans, benches and replacement cabins that are perfect for dog owners.
In addition to the beautiful sun and beaches, the city of Split has a rich history. The Split was founded as a Greek colony of Asparatus between the 3rd and 2nd centuries BC, and walking through the city will allow you to regain your time.
In fact, the beauty of splits has been recognized for as early as 1,700 years. Roman Emperor Diocletian loved the city so much that he wanted to build a summer residence “on the other side of the Adriatic Sea.”
According to legend, his crew branded the modern-day splitting area as “the most beautiful place in the world.”
This history helped me enlist in 1979 as a UNESCO World Heritage Site.
One visitor who rated the 5-star on TripAdvisor said, “Amazing place. It's ridiculous, full of history at the fingertips. The palace is a unique place to visit.”
Split City allows the British to catch flights from Birmingham, Bristol, Edinburgh, Leeds, London City, London Gatwick, London Luton, Liverpool and Manchester to this incredible destination.
