Tanzania held the 32nd edition of the World Travel Awards (WTA) for Africa and the Indian Ocean on July 28, 2025 in Dar es Salaam, hosting the first prestigious event for the African nation. The ceremony, hosted by the World Luxury Media Group, will attract more than 500 participants, including 300 international participants, significantly improving the country's global tourism profile.
The announcement follows consistent recognition of Tanzania at past WTA events and coincides with recent national efforts to promote destinations internationally, including President Samias Roof Hassan's renowned “Royal Tour” campaign. 50 Tanzania attractions and tourism-related businesses have been nominated in multiple award categories. The event will be held at the Johari Rotana Hotel, where Shufaa Pan Africa Hospital will serve as the official healthcare provider. Tanzania's position to host the WTA will further showcase tourism offerings and expand local opportunities for hospitality, medical tourism and event services.
