2 Days: World Travel Awards Africa & Indian Ocean Gala Ceremony

As the sun rises above the Indian Ocean, this five-star venue (part of the iconic MNF Square development) hosts the region's most famous travel and tourism celebrity on a spectacular evening of recognition and charm.

The event will start at 7pm with a networking cocktail reception and peak at 11pm, with a gala dinner and awards ceremony. Participants arrive in black tie elegance and national dress with candidates, decision makers and influencers from across Africa to celebrate the excellence in hospitality, tourism and travel innovation.

Tanzania is on a central stage
The ceremony at Dar Es Salaam highlights the growing height of Tanzania's regional tourism powerhouse. From the iconic Serengeti Safari and the white sands of Zanzibar to the towering majesticity of Mount Kilimanjaro, the country offers an unparalleled tapestry of beauty and high-end hospitality.

“Tanzania's choice as a host reflects a rapid rise in economic contributions and visitor attraction.” said Graham Cook, founder of the World Travel Awards.

Voting for the African and Indian Ocean categories was closed on May 4th, but expectations remain high. This year's list includes top airlines, luxury resorts, conservation initiatives and tourism services that have shaped the region's global presence.

The candidates range from major airlines such as Kenya Airlines and Ethiopian Airlines to world-renowned destinations such as Zanzibar, Mount Kilimanjaro and Serengeti.

“For many, recognition at the WTA gala is more than admiration. It is a milestone that will increase global credibility and appeal.”

Graham Cook, founder of the World Travel Awards

    What to expect at night
7pm – Cocktail reception: Curtain Razor that allows participants to network with local leaders and international media.
8:00pm – Gala dinner and awards reveal: a red carpet moment where everyone is waiting.
23:00 – Event Close: Formal ceremony is over and unofficial networking opportunities continue.

This landmark night is the first stop of the 2025 World Travel Award Grand Tour, which continues across Cancun, St. Lucia, Hong Kong, Sardinia and Dubai before reaching its peak in the Grand Finals in Bahrain.

Dar es Salaam on the global stage
In just a few days before the curtains rise in Yohari Rotana, excitement is building up throughout Tanzania's hospitality sector. The candidates are preparing, the media are ready, and guests around the world have confirmed their travel plans that promise to make the excellence of tourism in Africa and the Indian Ocean an unforgettable celebration.

Stay tuned – This Saturday, the world will be seen as the region's finest announced, and will be seen on a night when recognition, networking and celebrations converge at one of the planet's most dynamic destinations.
